Indoor Air Quality Monitoring (IAQM)

At Ambiental, we have an approved Air Quality Monitor to carry out Air Quality Measurements of the workplace for Rules 16 and 17 as read with Rule 2 Factories and Otherplace of Work (Hazardous Substances) Rules (Legal Notice 60/2007) under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2007, Laws of Kenya. Indoor air quality (IAQ) is a critical component of workplace safety, affecting employee health, productivity, and overall well-being. The OSHA, 2007 Specifies exposure limits for airborne contaminants such as gaseous (carbon monoxide, formaldehyde) and particulate matter. It requires proper ventilation for hazardous substances. We also carry out mold and Biological contaminants.

Common Indoor Air Contaminants Monitored include:

  • Particulate Matter (PM2.5, PM10) – Dust, smoke, and airborne particles.
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) – High levels indicate poor ventilation.
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO) – Can result from faulty heating systems.
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) – Emitted by paints, cleaning agents, and office equipment.
  • Formaldehyde – Found in furniture, adhesives, and insulation materials.
  • Biological Contaminants – Mold, bacteria, and viruses from HVAC systems or water damage.
  • Humidity Levels – Should be maintained between 30–60% to prevent mold growth.

Air pollution harms health, the environment, and the economy, making air quality monitoring essential for a sustainable future. We explore monitoring networks, technologies, health and environmental impacts, and regulatory frameworks. Monitoring involves collecting air samples, comparing them to standards, and assessing pollution’s effects.
